Stop the Over Development of Lords Road - Leichhardt
An 8-storey complex doesn’t belong here
Help protect our neighbourhood
Davies St, Kegworth St, Lords Rd, Lambert Park. This is a community, not a construction zone.
Developers want to rezone this peaceful pocket to allow 30-metre high towers. It directly borders over 20 houses and is in close proximity to Kegworth school, daycares, and vital green spaces.
And yet… no proper answers on traffic, school impact, or basic infrastructure.
They say: “We’ll work it out later.”
We say: “That’s too late.”
The Four Big Problems
-
Too Big, Too Soon
Based on a selective reading of the Parramatta Road strategy to justify 3 x typical R3 zoned height, in a quiet, low-rise neighbourhood, close to a primary school. It doesn’t fit.
-
Rushed and Incomplete Planning
From traffic to schools to water servicing — major issues are being left for later. Once rezoning goes through, the community has little power to fix them
-
Community Cost, Developer Benefit
We lose jobs, light, and local character, they gain height and profit. And there are no binding guarantees that we’ll see any public benefit in return.
-
We’ve Seen This Playbook Before
Other sites nearby were cleared and left empty while developers came back asking for more. This is how overdevelopment creeps in. Let’s not let it happen again.
What People Are Saying
“My kids walk to school. I worry this development will turn a quiet street into a traffic nightmare.”
“This isn’t NIMBYism. It’s about building the right kind of housing, not just the most profitable.”
“Thirty metres isn’t just out of character, it’s out of control.”
“They say it’s about housing, but only 5% is affordable. So who exactly is this for?”
